Frame, skid, and assembly installation in EPC and plant environments involves precise final positioning of large, heavy fabrications — often with multiple mating interfaces that must align simultaneously.
Equipment skids, structural frames, and fabricated assemblies are among the heaviest and most geometrically complex loads positioned in EPC and plant installation work. They frequently have multiple mating faces, anchor bolt patterns, or process connections that must align simultaneously during the final lowering sequence — creating pressure to station workers at multiple points on the load simultaneously, each using their hands.
The Multi-Interface Problem
When a skid or frame has multiple mating faces, each interface must align independently while the load descends. The traditional approach stations workers at each interface, each using their hands. Multiple workers in multiple closing gaps simultaneously creates compounded exposure.
A better approach sequences the interfaces: establish the primary alignment first (typically the largest or most constraining interface), allow the crane to lower onto that reference, then address secondary interfaces.
Tool Selection for Assembly Installation

When the operator's working position changes during alignment, the articulation should support that movement rather than force repeated disengagement and reattachment.
EPC Environment Considerations
EPC installation work involves fabricated assemblies with shop primer, coating, and in some cases temporary protection films.
The relevant surface condition band for EPC work is typically light-to-moderate coating. Verify attachment on the actual assembly surface before committing the tool to the final alignment sequence.
Do not assume that a ferrous assembly automatically provides suitable magnetic engagement. Primer, coating, surface contamination and protection films can affect contact quality and should be checked on the actual workpiece.
