Load-It® Application Mapping Review — How It Works

Not sure which configuration fits the task? The Application Mapping Review examines the actual application — the load, the surface, the access conditions, and the operator movement — and recommends the correct matched configuration.

Application-First Selection
“Not: how much is your 550-lb magnetic pole? But: here is our plate handling operation — what configuration should we use?”

Why the Review Exists

A correct configuration cannot be chosen from a specification sheet alone.

The Application Mapping Review exists because the correct Load-It® configuration for a given task cannot be determined from a specification sheet alone.

Tool length, head type, magnetic strength, and the choice between fixed and telescopic all interact with the specific characteristics of the task. Getting those interactions right requires examining the actual application.

What the Review Involves

Four layers of application-specific assessment.

01 · Task Mapping

Map where exposure occurs.

PSC examines the specific positioning tasks where hand exposure has been identified — or where the risk assessment indicates that current practice involves hand contact with suspended ferrous loads. For each task, the review establishes the load type and surface condition, approach geometry and access constraints, operator movement pattern, and existing controls.

02 · Method Selection

Choose the correct control.

Not every task will call for a magnetic tool. The review explicitly includes the possibility that a mechanical contact method, a tagline approach, or a different operational sequence may be more appropriate. The recommendation is built around the correct control for each task — not around maximising the number of Load-It® tools.

03 · Configuration Recommendation

Match the Load-It® configuration.

Where Load-It® MagHead is the appropriate control, the review produces a specific recommendation: head type (90° Flex or 180° Swivel), magnetic strength class (275 lb or 550 lb), tool length (2 ft through 12 ft fixed, or FG008 telescopic), and quantity recommendation for the operation's task profile.

04 · Application Notes

Define how it should be used.

The review includes application-specific notes on surface condition verification, operator positioning, integration with existing tagline practice, and task-specific considerations that affect how the recommended configuration should be used.

What the Review Produces

A practical basis for selection, trial and deployment.

01
A task-by-task application map

Identifying where hand exposure occurs and which engineering control is recommended for each.

02
Specific Load-It® configuration recommendations

Matched to each identified task.

03
Application-specific notes

Covering surface condition, operator positioning, and integration with existing lifting controls.

04
A clear basis for a trial order

So the proposed configuration can be evaluated against the actual tasks identified.

How to Request

Start with the operation, not the product.

Contact PSC Hand Safety with a description of the operation — the industry, the load types, the general nature of the positioning tasks, and the approximate number of workers involved.

PSC will confirm what additional information is required and propose the appropriate format for the review.

Request an Application Mapping Review

Share the task context first. PSC will identify what further information is required for the engineering review.

Premium Engineering Consultation

Not sure which configuration fits the task?

PSC's Application Mapping Review examines the actual task — the load, the surface, the access conditions, and the operator's movement — and recommends the correct matched configuration.
